This was the second year of the Best Value competition, organized by Studio Ben Ami. There were 128 wines in the competition from 28 Israeli wineries. The main category was for wines less than 79 shekels and there were also prizes for wines under 50 shekels.
The results were announced at the David InterContinental Hotel in Tel Aviv and they are listed below. The best results were achieved by Carmel Winery and Golan Heights Winery, Israel’s two most famous wineries, who really dominated the event. Both won no less than four Gold Medals and nine medals in total. Between them, they won over 55% of the gold medals and over 40% of the medals on offer.
Studio Ben Ami, is owned by Avi Ben Ami. He is one of Israel’s most famous sommeliers who also organizes the annual Eshkol Hazahav, Israel’s leading wine tasting competition and the Sommelier Exhibition, the leading Israeli trade show.
