Too many people – Jews and non-Jews alike – only see Israel through the lenses of CNN – a war-torn, conflict-ridden country. But this is not Israel, and this is not the reality of most of us who live in Israel. I say this often, but it’s completely true — I feel safer in Jerusalem and the rest of Israel than I do in America, where I grew up.

If they don’t see Israel through that lense, it’s also misconceived either as a Polish shtetl, with the ultra-Orthodox haredim running the show. While Israel’s parliamentary system does give their parties some political leverage (like all small parties), they are only a tiny minority of Israel’s population and most Israelis are not “Orthodox” – let alone ultra-Orthodox. Nevertheless, even among Israel’s haredi population, when it comes to wine, there has been a significant move to higher quality wines.

jnf-079-5215093Others see Israel as a backwards desert, where everyone rides camels and eats falafel. That’s like saying everyone in America is fat and drives SUV’s and eats Big Macs (actually that might be more true!). This is NOT ISRAEL!

Nor is it a land of kibbutzim and soldiers – it’s not Exodus – the Bible or the movie!

Israel is a country that is making YOUR life a better place, INNOVATING, working for PEACE, a great INVESTMENT opportunity in technology and scientific research, a STRONG economy (MUCH stronger than America at the moment), and – OF COURSE – land of great food and TREMENDOUS WINE.

THIS IS ISRAEL!
