In the latest tasting of Israeli wines published by The Wine Advocate, the Israeli wines to stand out were:
- Margalit Cabernet Sauvignon Special Reserve 2007 93 points
- Margalit Kadita Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2007 91 points
- Flam Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve 2007 90 points
- Vitkin Carignan 2007 90 points
The Wine Advocate is the newsletter published by Robert Parker, the world’s most influential wine critic. His expert on Israel is Mark Squires, who tastes and reports on the wines from Israel.
Thus Margalit becomes the fourth Israeli winery to receive a 93 point score from the Wine Advocate. The others are Domaine du Castel, Clos de Gat and Yatir Winery.
Since December 2007, The Wine Advocate has tasted hundreds of Israeli wines. Out of all the wines tasted, there are sixteen Israeli wines that stand out by scoring 91 points or more. Castel and Yatir have both achieved this on no less than four occasions. Clos de Gat, Golan Heights and Margalit have done so twice, whilst Carmel & Tzora have done so once.
